Sanjay Dutt was born on July 29, 1959, in Mumbai to legendary Bollywood actors Sunil Dutt and Nargis Dutt.

He made his film debut in 1981 with 'Rocky', which released shortly after the death of his mother.

In the early 1980s, he struggled with drug addiction and later went to a rehabilitation center in the United States.

He made a strong comeback with the film Naam (1986), which earned him critical acclaim for his performance.
